Privacy Policy — Roost

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 7, 2026

Roost is built to be private by design. Your tabs and sessions stay on your device. This policy explains the little data we do handle — through our website, our payment reseller, and license verification.

Roost (the "Extension", "we", "us") is Mohammad Ashik Elahi (operating as hakeemify.com), based in Bangladesh. This policy covers the Roost browser extension and the website at hakeemify.com/roost-pro. Contact: support@hakeemify.com.

1. The Extension: your data stays local

Everything Roost creates about your browsing — saved sessions, tab lists, session names, settings, and archives — is stored locally in your browser (using your browser's IndexedDB/local storage). This data is never transmitted to us or to any server. We have no account system, we cannot see your tabs, and we do not track your browsing.

The only time the Extension makes a network request is:

  • License verification (Pro only): when you activate or use Pro, the Extension sends your license key and a randomly generated activation identifier to our license-verification service (and/or our reseller) to confirm the license is valid. No tab or browsing data is sent.
  • Browser updates: your browser (e.g., Chrome) may check for and download Extension updates. This is handled by the browser, not by us.

Permissions we request, and why

  • tabs, tabGroups — to read and restore your open tabs and windows for save/restore/de-dupe.
  • storage, unlimitedStorage — to store your sessions locally on your device.
  • alarms — to run optional scheduled actions such as auto-archive.
  • notifications — to show local status messages (e.g., session saved).
  • contextMenus — to add right-click "Save tab/tabs to Roost" options.
  • Host permission — to operate on the pages/tabs you choose to save or suspend.

We use these permissions solely to provide the Extension's features. We do not use them to collect, sell, or transmit your data.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use: Roost's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell user data or use it for advertising.

2. The website (hakeemify.com/roost-pro)

When you visit our website we may process:

  • Analytics: we use privacy-focused, aggregate analytics to understand traffic (e.g., page views, referrer, approximate region, device type). Where possible this is cookieless and does not identify you.
  • Server logs: standard logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) kept briefly for security and diagnostics.
  • Links: some outbound install links are routed through a link-tracking tool that counts clicks per channel; it does not identify you personally.

3. Purchases & payment data

When you buy Roost Pro, payment is processed by our reseller and Merchant of Record, Paddle.com (and, where applicable, another authorized reseller). Paddle collects the information needed to complete your purchase — such as your name, email, billing address, and payment details — and handles billing, taxes, and receipts. We never receive or store your full payment card details. We receive limited order information (such as your email and order/license reference) to deliver and support your license. See Paddle's privacy policy at paddle.com/legal/privacy.

If we email your license key, we use a third-party email provider to send that email, which processes your email address for delivery.

4. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data only with service providers that help us operate:

  • Paddle (payments / Merchant of Record).
  • Cloudflare (hosting our license-verification service and website infrastructure).
  • An email provider (to send license keys and support replies).
  • An analytics provider (aggregate website statistics).

These providers may process data outside your country. We rely on their safeguards for international transfers.

5. Data retention

Local session data remains on your device until you delete it or remove the Extension. Order and license records are retained as long as needed to support your purchase and meet legal/accounting obligations. Server logs are kept for a short period.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location (e.g., the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any right, email support@hakeemify.com. For payment data held by Paddle, you can also contact Paddle directly.

7. Children

Roost is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect the limited data we handle. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but because Roost keeps your session data on your own device, your exposure is minimal by design.

9. Changes

We may update this policy; we will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide notice on this page. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
