How to hide newsletter popups in Chrome for good
You are four paragraphs into an article when a modal covers it and asks for your email.
Hide the modal and the scroll lock it leaves behind, so the page keeps working instead of freezing underneath the overlay.
Why the usual fixes do not stick
Devtools can delete the modal, but it returns on refresh because the page rebuilds it. Blocking the script that creates it often breaks the article too, since the same bundle usually renders the page. Hiding the specific element, and clearing the scroll lock the modal leaves on the body, fixes it without breaking the page.
How to do it with BowerBird
